It’s time to pop on your aprons and hang on to your soggy bottoms because The Great British Bake Off (GBBO 2021) will be returning to Channel 4 very soon and this year’s not so secret location is Welford Park in Newbury. The iconic tent is up, and the contestants are in and raring to go!
Your Tuesday nights are about to be taken over by all things biscuit, cake and pastry for the recently revealed 12 contestants who will all be baking it out to win the weekly Star Baker accolade or even win the entire show!
The judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are returning for another series to give their honest and often brutal opinions and they will be flanked by the hilarious pair who are Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas to provide more countdowns, chaos, and comedy moments.
This year in line with COVID-19 regulations, all contestants and judges lived together at a secret South-East location in July where they were joined by 80 members of the production team, 20 hotel staff and approximately 20 children, as well as multiple chaperones and dog walkers.
We all know that every year contestants make a huge mess and the great British public often wonder if they have to do their own washing up! Well, we know that there is no dishwasher in the tent, so it's left to the GBBO home economist and a team of runners, getting through an average of 1,000 cloths, 80 sponges and 30 litres of washing up liquid during 160 hours of scrubbing.
