National Gardening Week 2021

National Gardening Week 2021 - Keep Things Personal

Get in the garden!

Spring has sprung, British Summer Time has come and lockdown is easing which means we can start spending time with loved ones, albeit in the garden or outside in limited numbers and still at a 2m distance. Now is the time to get in the garden and get it ready for guests and BBQ season in the summer when things are more normal.

So when everything is tidy and ready for planting, what do you plant and when?

April: Poppies

As well as being a beautiful vibrant red flower, poppies are said to have some health benefits from aiding digestion, boost skin & nails as well as treading coughs and headaches.

May: Sunflowers

Here to dominate the skyline and guaranteed to put a smile on your face, sunflowers are the perfect addition to any garden. Remember as they die out to collect the seeds, dry them and either replant or toast for a healthy snack.

June: Pansies

Available in a multitude of colours, pansies are perfect for adding life into any garden in an easy way and for any fan of C.S. Lewis it will give you some sweet Alice in Wonderland vibes.

July: Geraniums

Great for deterring some very common and destructive pests, provide gorgeous blooms and also an essential oil that can be used to treat anxiety, depression, infections and pain management.

August: Forget-Me-Nots

A stunning sky blue for the garden, easy to look after and cope fine with being in the shade.
